The “workshops”, which in its moment were called works of crafts, always accompanied the work of our Disciplines. Around the year 1974, in a place called “El Mirador”, province of Cordoba, Argentina, the four Crafts were presented in a practical way that could be useful for the four Disciplinary ways. Later, after one year, in 1975, in Corfu, an island in Greece, the themes of the Crafts and Disciplines were synthesized in some documents, leading to new developments that were more connected to strengthening true vigil. From these developments, the basis of the scheme of the psychism and the works of operative came about. 28 years went by before these workshops reappeared accompanied by the works of Disciplines. Today, 36 years later, the Crafts return to be in theme and come back like a good ally for the formation of the ambits that strengthen our Internal Work. Internal Work as linked to our action in the world, as a common goal, is the compass that indicates us to the valid direction of our actions. What is the purpose of what I do in relation to personal and social development? How does this activity adapt to the moment of process of the whole? Without doubt, there may be different and valid responses to the proposal but surely we can agree, that, counting on a support activity, like the Crafts, will add to our activities in the world strengthening a style of life that places us in a more inspired Tone than the habitual. Today, with a small team of friends interested in the theme, we are recovering these documents of Corfu about Perfumery, Ludism (Games) and Iconography to which we add Natural Medicine (which is not in the writings of 1975 but indeed it was in the 1974 ones) and we have decided to publish them in a website accessible to all those interested. (In literal form and without one comma added). Also some annex can be useful like the Eneagram and the system of proportion. Also we wanted to display, in video format, something about Crafts in action, not with the intention of explaining them, but rather to place images that mobilize the setting in motion of these activities generating many urban ambits and channelling the encounters of interchange in our Parks. Moreover we have certainty of experience about the convenience of making contact (or connecting) with all the Crafts and not only with one in particular. Connecting with all will serve to understand the common background of entering a Tone, Pulchritude (neatness) and Permanence as an educational function and also the tendency to organize coherent and harmonious structures, be they structures of acts or objects. In matters of our Crafts, it is all there to be done and the adequate Tone is in the hands of each one. This tone that connects us with the register of a “fitting”, with the intention of “being where one is”, with a syntonicity (being in tune) with others. This harmony has a metric (rhythm) that comes from a proportion. It is necessary to exert pulchritude, an acknowledged respect for order and priority of the operations and also to sustain the purpose when encountering an uphill struggle. Let’s remember that our crafts have a structure and function given by its usefulness for the Discipline in which each one is. So the Crafts of Representations are directed to serve the Mental Discipline; such is the case of Ludism or Ludic Craft (Games). The Ritual Crafts like Perfumery is oriented by the usefulness that it presents to the Energetic Discipline; the Iconographic Crafts, in its associative or abstract aspects, for its orientation to the Morphological Discipline and the Material Crafts or Metallurgy for its usefulness to its Discipline. Summarizing: With this general introduction we want to emphasize a few antecedents of the works of Crafts. That these can be a valid support to create ambits that favour the work with Disciplines and style of life. That it could be an excellent activity with a permanent character in our Parks. That with a few friends we produced a material we are making available to all who having done the works of Levelling and Disciplines, may consider it useful. Starting from the understanding that it is not about any recipe on “how to do”, but rather to put within everybody’s reach a material that may stimulate the work in groups with interchange and experience.
